What Are the Engine and Drivetrain Options for the 2023 Gladiator?

The Gladiator provides wondrous capability on and off the road. Its phenomenal capability begins underneath the hood with a 3.6-liter V6 engine that delivers 285 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. The V6 engine sends power to all four wheels with a 6-speed manual transmission and Command-Trac 4×4 as standard equipment. However, an 8-speed automatic transmission and Selec-Trac 4×4 are available options. Available for the 2023 Gladiator lineup is a 3.0L EcoDiesel V6, which puts out 260 horsepower and 480 lb-ft of torque. Managing the distribution of the engine’s high torque levels is an 8-speed automatic transmission. Command-Trac, the Gladiator’s standard 4×4 system, is a part-time system that allows drivers to shift between 2WD, 4WD-High, and 4WD-Low on the fly at speeds up to 55 MPH. The available Selec-Trac system uses a full-time active transfer case to detect road conditions and send torque to the axle with the most traction automatically without any driver input. Lastly, Rock-Trac 4×4 is exclusive to the Rubicon trim and offers a low-range gear ratio of 4:1 to provide higher amounts of low-end torque to provide optimal traction at low speeds.

Standard Features for the 2023 Jeep Gladiator

The Jeep Gladiator pulls nearly all of its inspiration from the Wrangler, from its engine lineup to its 4×4 systems. However, where the Wrangler’s inspiration shines brightest on the Gladiator is the cab design. The Gladiator features the same circular headlights on either side of the timeless seven-slot grille and removable top and doors. For even more fresh air, the windshield can be folded down. The Gladiator Sport, which leads off the trim level lineup, features an easy-lower three-position tailgate, a five-foot truck bed, 17-inch steel wheels, a black soft top, black bumpers, Dana heavy-duty axles, and black fender flares. Hopping inside, you’ll find a new air filtration system, a 7-inch Uconnect 4 touchscreen, locking rear seat storage, Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, and cloth seating.

What Do the Higher Gladiator Trim Levels Offer?

Following the Sport trim is the Sport S. The Gladiator Sport S offers all of the Sport’s features and adds power windows, power door locks, aluminum wheels, remote proximity keyless entry, and push-button start. The Sport S is also eligible for more available options, including body-color fender flares, LED headlights and fog lights, and Gloss Black aluminum wheels. Meanwhile, the military-inspired Willys comes next, capturing the Jeep brand heritage with exclusive Willys decals, 32-inch mud-terrain tires, a locking rear differential, an 8.4-inch touchscreen with navigation, LED lighting, cab rock rails, and the Rubicon’s shock absorbers. Next is the legendary Rubicon, featuring exclusive off-roading equipment like FOX shock absorbers, Rock-Trac 4×4, 33-inch all-terrain tires, locking front and rear differentials, off-roading rock rails, electronic sway bar disconnect, and more. The Gladiator Mojave takes drivers to the desert dunes with a one-inch factory lift, 33-inch all-terrain tires, a locking rear differential, high-clearance fender flares, and FOX 2.5-inch internal bypass shock absorbers.
