What’s under the hood of the Challenger?
When you look under the Challenger’s hood, you will be treated to any one of four engine options. The base engine is available for the SXT and the GT, and it’s a 3.6-liter V6 that pumps out a spectacular 303 horsepower and connects to an eight-speed automatic transmission that will provide you with a smooth ride. Rear-wheel-drive is the default setup, but you can get all-wheel-drive for the SXT, and GT trims, giving you a little more traction. When you get to the R/T trim, we get into the first of the V8 options. In this case, it’s a 5.7-liter V8 that pumps out a solid 375 horsepower with a six-speed manual or 372 horsepower with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Next up is the R/T Scat Pack, which up the power with a 6.4-liter V8 that gets you 485 horsepower which also can pair with a six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic transmission. The final engine is available for the SRT Hellcat, which has a turbocharged version of the 6.4-liter V8 that has a pavement-pounding 717 horsepower which you can up to 797 horsepower with the Redeye or 807 horsepower with the SRT Super Stock.
